What is the difference between a private chauffeur service and Uber Black or Lyft?
A rideshare app matches you with whichever driver is closest at the moment you tap request. A private chauffeur service is arranged in advance with a named company: you choose the vehicle, the fare is quoted and locked before pickup, and the same concierge desk that took your reservation is still answering the phone if plans change. Every NM Luxury Transportation chauffeur is background-checked and trained in house.
Is a private chauffeur service more expensive than Uber Black?
Not necessarily. Rideshare fares move with demand, so the same trip in a Black car can cost far more at 5:00 pm in the rain than at midnight. Our quote is confirmed before you pay and does not change after booking, with no surge multiplier and no surprise tolls. For scheduled airport transfers and full days of meetings, a fixed chauffeur quote often lands below the rideshare total, and you can request a quote on the booking page before committing.
How is NM Luxury Transportation different from Blacklane?
Blacklane is a booking platform that sources each ride from a network of local operators. We are a New York company running our own operation: the same team quotes the car, assigns the chauffeur and answers the phone when a flight slips. We are independent and are not affiliated with Uber, Lyft, or Blacklane.
Can I choose the exact vehicle I ride in?
Yes. You choose the category when you book. The Luxury Sedan is a Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Cadillac Lyriq or similar. The Luxury SUV seats up to seven passengers in a Cadillac Escalade, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon, Lincoln Navigator or similar. The First Class Sedan is a Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7 Series or Audi A8, and the Luxury Sprinter serves hourly, as-directed work with room for a group and their luggage. Every vehicle is a late-model black car in professional limousine service, and passenger capacity is shown with every category, so nothing about your ride is left to chance at pickup.
Do you track my flight if my plane lands late?
Every airport reservation includes complimentary flight tracking. Your chauffeur is scheduled against your actual landing time rather than the time printed on your ticket, and waiting caused by a delay is not billed to you. That is the practical difference from joining an arrivals queue and accepting whatever the app charges in that minute.
How far ahead should I book, and what if my plans change?
Reservations open twelve months out. For peak periods we suggest at least 48 hours notice, though our concierge regularly accommodates same-day requests. Cancellations made at least four hours before pickup are fully refunded, inside four hours a 50% fee applies, and no-shows are charged in full. Gratuity is not included. Tips are optional and greatly appreciated, and 100% goes to your chauffeur.
When does a private chauffeur make more sense than a rideshare?
When the ride carries some weight: an airport departure you cannot miss, a client or investor being collected for the first time, a wedding or event day, a full day of meetings across the city, or travel with children, luggage or a group. For a spontaneous trip across town off-peak a rideshare app works well. For anything scheduled, timed or seen by someone else, a booked chauffeur removes the surge, the wait and the guesswork.
